It’s Final – HTC Announces the Quad-Core One X and Siblings

HTC unveiled its new One X, One S, and One V smartphones in Barcelona, Spain, today. All HTC One phones will have three things in common: HTC’s new ImageSense with the HTC ImageChip, Beats audio software and all three phones will ship with Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4.0) running HTC’s Sense UI 4.0.

HTC’s new ImageChip has an almost no-lag shutter speed, an f2.0 aperture, and a handful of different shooting modes, including High Dynamic Range (HDR) and Panorama. We’ve already seen some HTC Sense 4.0 and from now on you can probably expect all HTC phones to have Beats Audio.

The phone rundown:

The One X comes in a polycarbonate unibody shell, sports a 4.7-inch, 720p HD screen and runs on Nvidia’s 1.5GHz “4-PLUS-1” quad-core processor. The 4-plus-1 referring to the chipmaker’s “secret core” which saves battery life and is said to give an extra burst of power for gaming or graphics intensive applications.

The S comes with a metal unibody design and at 7.9-mm thick it’s HTC’s thinnest phone to date, with a 4.3 inch AMOLED screen running at qHD 960 x 540 , protected by robust Corning Gorilla Glass and sporting a Qualcomm Dual-core 1.5GHz S4 Snapdragon.

The V, similar to the design of the HTC Legend, is HTC’s lower-end budget offering, running on a 1.0 GHz single-core processor, with a 3.7-inch 480 x 800 display, 512MB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage. The phone has a 5-megapixel back camera, is 9.2mm thick and has a non-removable 1,500 mAh battery. But, remember that thus phone still packs Beats Audio and HTC’s ImageSense camera technology.

HTC has a new agreement with Dropbox. Previously, HTC was working with Dropbox to offer folks a free 5GB when using HTC devices but they’ve now bumped that up to 25GB free for 2-years for all Sense 4.0 devices.
The phones also come with a wireless Media Link HD accessory which can be plugged into a TV’s HDMI port, allowing wireless sharing of photos, videos, documents and music, regardless of the TV’s brand. The handsets will be widely available across a range of operators from Q2, said the firm.

About Web Ninja

I am an avid web designer and technology compelled me into journalism. My career started out with a blog about how to hack your Windows PC, but it developed into my love for Apple (which is now nonexistent). Before I was introduced to Android I was an Apple fanboy, I loved anything apple, iPhones, iPods, Macs, etc. Then, I was in Best Buy with a friend and he was buying a phone... An Android phone running Cupcake (1.6). He wasn't the techiest friend a guy could have, but he still loved technology. Now, this was a new phone at the time and of course, he had to get it. I thought the phone was going to be a ripoff of an iPhone but, soon I realized that it had potential. That's how my Android love developed. I currently own a Samsung Galaxy S2 from Sprint as well as an HTC Thunderbolt for Verizon.
