GT-i9260 “Superior” to be Galaxy Nexus for 2012?

The Samsung fansite SamMobile has released details and specs for a new Samsung phone with the model number GT-i9260. The interesting thing; the model number on the Galaxy Nexus is GT-i9250. SamMobile states this will be the next mid-range Galaxy Nexus and  based upon the specs leaked from an internal spreadsheet, I can’t wait to get my hands on it.

Appearing alongside the codename “Superior,” the GT-i9260 seems to be very common to the Galaxy Nexus we have today — an HD SuperAMOLED display on 4.65-inch display, for instance. Interestingly, though, the “Superior” is reported as having a 1.5GHz dual-core Cortex A9 CPU (up from 1.2GHz in the original), as well as an 8MP rear camera, 1.9MP front camera (up from 5.0 and 1.2 respectively), and a microSD card slot.

The microSD card might hint at the validity of this leak since the Android development team has mentioned in the past their dislike of removable storage and unless they changed their minds since June we might a have an fake leak.

We admit that we were kind of bummed that there was no mention of a quad-core processor, or maybe even a screen to match the Galaxy S3, but like we said since this is hardly official information, don’t start crying. The Nexus handset is due for a refresh soon so leaks at this point in time aren’t too surprising.

About Web Ninja

I am an avid web designer and technology compelled me into journalism. My career started out with a blog about how to hack your Windows PC, but it developed into my love for Apple (which is now nonexistent). Before I was introduced to Android I was an Apple fanboy, I loved anything apple, iPhones, iPods, Macs, etc. Then, I was in Best Buy with a friend and he was buying a phone... An Android phone running Cupcake (1.6). He wasn't the techiest friend a guy could have, but he still loved technology. Now, this was a new phone at the time and of course, he had to get it. I thought the phone was going to be a ripoff of an iPhone but, soon I realized that it had potential. That's how my Android love developed. I currently own a Samsung Galaxy S2 from Sprint as well as an HTC Thunderbolt for Verizon.
