Samsung announced 10.1-inch and 7-inch versions of a new “Galaxy Tab 2″ Android tablet. Both tablets run Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.
The 7-inch Galaxy Tab 2 supports 21Mbps HSPA+ networks and is equipped with a dual-core 1GHz processor, a 7-inch display with a 1024 x 600-pixel resolution, a 3-megapixel camera and a secondary front-facing VGA camera for video chatting. The new tablet will be available with 8GB, 16GB, or 32GB. Overall, though, it doesn’t look like there’s much of an upgrade over the existing 7-inch models, although we’ll reserve our opinions until we get some hands-on time with the device.
The 10.1-inch Galaxy Tab 2 is also equipped with a 1GHz dual-core processor, a 10.1-inch display with a 1280 x 800-pixel resolution, a 3-megapixel camera, another front-facing VGA camera for video chats, Bluetooth 3.0 and GPS. It will be available in 16GB and 32GB models.
Samsung said it expects both devices to launch in the United Kingdom first and a global launch is expected to begin in March. In all, I notice very little difference between the current model and the Galaxy Tab 2.
